View transcription service →Punjabi is unusual: the same language is written in two different scripts depending on which side of the India-Pakistan border the document comes from. Indian Punjabi uses Gurmukhi; Pakistani Punjabi uses Shahmukhi, a Perso-Arabic variant. For US clients this matters because USCIS and state courts need translations matched to the source script. The Punjabi-speaking community in the United States is roughly 300,000 strong, with major centres in California's Central Valley (Yuba City, Fresno, Stockton), Queens, Houston, and the Seattle area — much of it Sikh, with strong gurdwara and community-document translation needs alongside the standard civil paperwork.
