Uyghur is a Turkic language spoken by around 10-15 million people, primarily in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of northwestern China, plus diaspora communities in Central Asia, Turkey, and an increasingly significant US population. The US Uyghur-American community is concentrated in the DC area (particularly Northern Virginia), parts of California, and Boston, with sharp growth since the 2017 Chinese government crackdown on Uyghurs in Xinjiang. Our Uyghur translation work is mostly USCIS asylum and family-reunification paperwork. Uyghur is traditionally written in a Perso-Arabic script.
