Portuguese-based creoles are a group of related languages spoken across former Portuguese colonial regions — including Cape Verdean Creole (Kriolu) of Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau Creole (Kiriol), São Tomean Creole (Forro), and Papiamento of the Caribbean. When a US client requests "Portuguese Creole" translation, our first question is which specific creole — the lexifier language is shared, but grammar and vocabulary differ enough that one specialist can't substitute for another. Most US Portuguese-Creole translation work is Cape Verdean Creole tied to the Massachusetts diaspora.
