About the Mende Language
Mende is a Mande language spoken by around 1.5 million people in southern and eastern Sierra Leone. It's one of Sierra Leone's largest indigenous languages alongside Temne. The US Mende-speaking community is small, concentrated in the DC area and parts of the Northeast.
