About Manx Language

Manx (Gaelg) is a Celtic language indigenous to the Isle of Man — a self-governing British Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea. It went functionally extinct in the 1970s but has been actively revitalised through Manx-medium schools, with around 1,800 people now reporting some Manx ability. The US Manx-speaking community is essentially non-existent; translation requests are extremely rare and typically tied to genealogical research by Manx-American descendants.
