Jakartanese is the Betawi speech of Jakarta, and the plain fact is that we supply it through Indonesian interpreters who grew up with Betawi, not through a separate roster. It is a Malay-based creole, close enough to standard Indonesian that a younger person from the city simply speaks Jakarta Indonesian, so most bookings are well served from our Indonesian team. An Indonesian interpreter usually works, but check the age and the district first. Betawi and standard Indonesian overlap heavily, and a city-raised speaker moves between them without effort, so for many families a general Indonesian interpreter is the right call and we say so rather than upselling. The exception is the one that matters: an older speaker from the villages on the edge of Jakarta, where Betawi is still the language of the household.
For that speaker we assign an Indonesian interpreter who actually speaks Betawi, and we ask at intake where the person grew up. Betawi carries Javanese and Sundanese vocabulary and its own sound changes, and an interpreter working only from textbook Indonesian will smooth over the parts that count.
No state runs a court certification exam in Jakartanese, so a court works from a qualified interpreter, which in practice is an Indonesian court interpreter who also handles Betawi. The distinction rarely troubles a hearing with a younger speaker, but with an older witness it decides whether the testimony is followed exactly.
