About the Yoruba Language

Yoruba is one of Nigeria's three major languages alongside Hausa and Igbo, spoken by around 45 million people in southwestern Nigeria and significant communities in Benin and Togo. The Yoruba diaspora is one of the most internationally distributed African communities, with strong presence in Brazil, Cuba, and the United States. The US Yoruba-speaking community is concentrated in Houston, New York, Atlanta, Maryland, and Chicago — particularly strong in medical, engineering, and academic professions. Our Yoruba translation work is mostly USCIS civil documents (Nigerian birth and marriage certificates), academic transcripts for credential evaluation, and the medical and professional-licensing paperwork that follows Yoruba professional migration.

  • Primary regions: Nigeria, Benin
  • Language origin / family: West Africa
  • Estimated speakers: 45 million
