About Temne Language
Temne is a Mel language spoken by around 1.5 million people primarily in northern Sierra Leone. It's one of Sierra Leone's two largest indigenous languages alongside Mende. The US Temne-speaking community is small and concentrated in the DC area and parts of the Northeast. Our Temne translation work is occasional and typically tied to USCIS asylum cases from Sierra Leone's 1991-2002 civil war.
