Swedish is the official language of Sweden and a co-official language of Finland, with around 10 million native speakers. It's largely mutually intelligible with Norwegian and Danish in written form. The Swedish-American community is concentrated in Minnesota, Illinois (Chicago), Massachusetts, and parts of California — descending from the substantial 19th-century farming and industrial migration. Our Swedish translation work is split between genealogy (Swedish parish records and emigration documents for ancestry research), business and IKEA-and-Volvo-style commercial contracts, and the academic transcripts of Swedish students at US universities.
