Papiamento is a Portuguese-Spanish-based creole spoken by around 350,000 people on the Caribbean islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire — all part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It has co-official status alongside Dutch on those islands. The US Papiamento-speaking community is small and concentrated in parts of Florida, New York, and the broader Dutch-Caribbean diaspora.
