About the Mien Language
Mien (Iu Mien) is a Hmong-Mien language spoken by around 800,000 people across southern China, northern Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. The US Mien-American community is concentrated in Sacramento and Oakland (California), Portland (Oregon), and Seattle, descendants of refugees who supported US forces during the Vietnam War era and were resettled afterwards.
