Maltese is unique among European languages: a Semitic language (closely related to Arabic, particularly North African Maghrebi dialects) but written in the Latin alphabet and saturated with Italian and English vocabulary. It's the national language of Malta and an official EU language, with around 500,000 speakers. The Maltese-American community is small, concentrated in Detroit, San Pedro (Los Angeles), and parts of New York and New Jersey. Our Maltese translation work is mostly genealogy and dual-citizenship documents (Malta allows it), USCIS civil records, and the occasional commercial contract tied to Malta's financial-services sector.
