About the Laotian Language
Laotian (Lao) is the official language of Laos and has around 30 million speakers if you include the Isan dialect of Northeast Thailand, which is mutually intelligible. The Lao-American community took root in the late 1970s and early 1980s when refugees from the Vietnam War period resettled across California, Texas, Minnesota, and the Pacific Northwest.
