About Kingwana Language

Kingwana (Congo Swahili) is a variety of Swahili spoken in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo — particularly Goma, Bukavu, and the Kivus — where it serves as the regional lingua franca. It has significant differences from East African Swahili in vocabulary and grammar, shaped by the multilingual environment of eastern Congo. Our Kingwana translation work overlaps with broader Swahili and Congolese asylum paperwork, often tied to USCIS refugee documentation from the protracted eastern Congo conflict.
