Inuktitut is the principal Inuit language of Canada's eastern Arctic, with around 35,000 native speakers across Nunavut, Nunavik (northern Quebec), and parts of Labrador. It uses both the Latin alphabet and Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics — a writing system originally developed for Cree and adapted for Inuktitut in the 1860s. The US Inuktitut-speaking community is essentially non-existent. Translation requests are rare and typically tied to cross-border Canadian-side documents being processed for US family or academic purposes.
