View transcription service →Hungarian is unusual in Europe: a Uralic language unrelated to the Slavic, Germanic, and Romance languages that surround it. It has around 13 million speakers, mostly in Hungary but also in Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Ukraine. The Hungarian-American community took its modern shape after the 1956 uprising, when refugees resettled across New York, Cleveland, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Most of our Hungarian work is genealogy and dual-citizenship documents — Hungarian birth, marriage, and church records — alongside the occasional business contract and academic transcript. Hungarian uses the Latin alphabet with several distinctive accented characters.
