Hmong is the language of the Hmong ethnic group of southern China and Southeast Asia. In the United States the Hmong community is concentrated in Minnesota's Twin Cities, Wisconsin (particularly Milwaukee and the Wausau area), the Central Valley of California (Fresno, Merced, Sacramento), and parts of North Carolina. The community traces back to refugees who supported US forces during the Vietnam War era and were resettled afterwards. The Hmong language has two main dialects — White Hmong and Green Hmong — and a Latin-based writing system (RPA) developed in the 1950s. We translate Hmong civil documents, healthcare intake, and the citizenship and benefits documents needed by older first-generation community members.
