About Hausa Language

Hausa is one of West Africa's most widely spoken languages — the lingua franca of Northern Nigeria, Niger, and parts of Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, and Sudan. Around 70 million people use it, though most as a second language. In the United States the Hausa-speaking community is small but growing, particularly in Houston, Atlanta, New York, and Minneapolis. Our Hausa translation work is dominated by USCIS asylum and refugee documentation tied to ongoing conflicts in northern Nigeria, plus the educational and professional credential paperwork of Nigerian medical and engineering professionals. Hausa is written in both Latin script (boko) and an Arabic-derived script (ajami).
