About Guaragigna Language

Guaragigna (Guragigna, Guraginya) is the language of the Gurage people of southwestern Ethiopia, spoken by around 2 million people. It's a Semitic language closely related to Amharic, with multiple distinct varieties. The US Gurage-American community is part of the broader Ethiopian-American population in the Washington DC metro area, Seattle, and Atlanta — strongly represented in the hospitality and restaurant sectors. Our Guragigna translation work is occasional and typically overlaps with broader Amharic and Ethiopian translation requests. (Note: Guragigna is sometimes confused with Tigrigna / Tigrinya — they are distinct languages within the Ethiopian Semitic family.)
