Fula (Fulani, Fulfulde, Pulaar) is a major West African language spoken by around 65 million people stretched across more than 20 countries from Senegal to Sudan — one of the most widely distributed African languages. It's the language of the Fulani people, traditionally pastoralists, with significant communities in Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso. Our Fula translation work is mostly USCIS asylum and refugee documentation tied to the various West African conflicts that have driven Fulani migration. The language is written in the Latin alphabet, with older religious documents in the Ajami (Arabic-derived) script.
