Like American English, English itself is more often a translation target than a source for our US-based work — typically the destination for documents originally in another language and bound for USCIS, US courts, US universities, and other US institutions. For UK-English source documents being submitted to US institutions, we adapt spelling, date format, and idiom to American English by default; reverse adaptations (American to British) are also handled on request. Worldwide there are around 380 million native English speakers and another 1 billion who use English as a second language.
