Highlands Ranch is an unincorporated census-designated place governed directly by Douglas County, and the most populous unincorporated community in Colorado. Having no city government, it has no municipal court; cases are heard in the Douglas County district and county courts at Castle Rock, which since January 2025 sit in Colorado's Twenty-Third Judicial District, split off from the Eighteenth. Douglas County School District reports 97 languages among its students, with Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Russian and Korean the six most common, and offers families free interpretation, advertising it in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese and Russian.
Prism Linguistics has one head office, in New York, and no branches anywhere else; when in-person interpreting is needed in Douglas County a linguist based nearby is dispatched. Courts turn to Prism for rare languages other providers cannot supply. We also cover USCIS filings, attorneys, doctors and private individuals; UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital adds steady medical demand.
Certified Danish to English translation is the core of our Danish document work: personattester, older combined birth and baptism certificates, marriage certificates and company records, each prepared by a qualified Danish translator with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy.
Denmark keeps its civil register through the church. Births, names and deaths for most of the country are recorded by the Folkekirken parish office (kirkekontor) into the digital register behind the CPR system, and the document a Dane now brings is a personattest, which replaced the older fødselsattest and shows the person's current legal name as registered in CPR, not the name at birth. An older fødsels- og dåbsattest, the combined birth and baptism certificate, is still valid and still turns up. The exception is Sønderjylland, where the municipality keeps the register: someone born there cannot get a combined birth and baptism certificate at all, only a dåbsattest, and a translator who has never seen that will query a Danish document that is exactly what it should be.
The CPR number, ten digits with the birth date first, appears on nearly every Danish record and stays untranslated. The letters æ, ø and å get flattened to ae, oe and aa on US forms, so Jørgensen and Jorgensen are the same person; we spell to the passport and note the Danish form. A vielsesattest, the marriage certificate, may be church or municipal, and we name the issuer as printed.
Every certified Danish translation is a complete, word-for-word rendering with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy, prepared to meet USCIS requirements. It is done from a clear scan, so a client in Highlands Ranch gets the same translator, the same price and the same turnaround as one anywhere else in the country. Danish is the official language of Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and a national language of Greenland, with around 6 million speakers. It's the most phonetically reduced of the mainland Scandinavian languages, written Danish is largely intelligible to Swedish and Norwegian speakers, but the spoken language can be challenging even for them. The Danish-American community is small and concentrated in Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, and California. Most of our Danish translation work is genealogy (Danish church and civil records for descendants), Danish business contracts tied to Maersk, Lego, and pharmaceutical sectors, and the occasional academic transcript.
Our Danish interpreters in Highlands Ranch are professional, experienced linguists who work in depositions, commercial litigation, hospitals and USCIS interviews, assigned for the legal and business register a Danish interpreting assignment usually calls for.
Danes in the United States mostly speak English well, and the situations that call for a Danish interpreter are specific: a deposition in a commercial dispute with a Danish parent company, a shipping or patent matter, an elderly relative in a hospital who has reverted to Danish, a Danish spouse at a green card interview who wants to answer in their own language. That is a legal and business register, and we assign a Danish interpreter with deposition experience rather than a conversational one.
No state runs a court certification exam in Danish, so courts use a registered or otherwise qualified Danish interpreter; tell us the court and the case type and we confirm what it will accept. Do not assume a Swedish or Norwegian interpreter will do. The written languages are close, but spoken Danish is the one the neighbours find hardest, and under cross-examination that gap shows. Federally funded hospitals must provide a Danish interpreter at no cost. At USCIS we send a Danish interpreter briefed to render and not to help, which Danish speakers, who tend to answer briefly, sometimes find unnerving; we explain that beforehand.
For an in-person assignment in Highlands Ranch we assign a Danish interpreter based in or near the city. Telephone and video interpreting can usually be arranged the same day. We serve courts, attorneys, hospitals, USCIS applicants and private individuals; we are a private agency, not a court-appointed vendor, and we say so up front.

No, but it needs explaining. A personattest always shows the legal name most recently registered in CPR, so it can differ from an older birth certificate or from a passport issued before a name change. We translate the document as issued and add a translator's note tying the names together, with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy.
Yes. We assign a Danish interpreter with deposition experience, in person or by video, and we ask for the pleadings or a term list in advance so the technical vocabulary is settled before the witness is sworn. No state certifies court interpreters in Danish, so we match the registered or qualified standard the venue expects. We are a private agency, not a court-appointed vendor.
