Chichewa (Chinyanja) is a Bantu language spoken by around 12 million people, primarily in Malawi (where it is the national language) and parts of Zambia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. The US Chichewa-speaking community is small and concentrated in areas that received Malawian student and professional migration, particularly the academic centres of the East Coast. Our Chichewa translation work is occasional and typically tied to Malawian civil documents, academic transcripts, or church records. Chichewa is written in the Latin alphabet.
