About Carolinian Language

Carolinian is an Austronesian language spoken by around 3,000 people in the Northern Mariana Islands — a US Commonwealth in the western Pacific. It's a Trukic language related to Chuukese, brought to the Marianas by Caroline Islands settlers in the 18th and 19th centuries. As a US Commonwealth language, Carolinian translation needs typically arise from Mariana Islands civil documents being processed elsewhere in the United States. Translation requests are very rare given the small speaker base and the fact that English serves as the administrative language in the Marianas.
