Afrikaans is a Germanic language descended from 17th-century Dutch, spoken by around 17 million people primarily in South Africa and Namibia. It's the third most-spoken language in South Africa after Zulu and Xhosa and one of South Africa's eleven official languages. The Afrikaans-American community is small but established, with concentrations in Texas, Arizona, and parts of the Mid-Atlantic — many of them post-1990s emigrants. Our Afrikaans translation work is mostly USCIS civil documents (South African birth and marriage certificates, ID cards), academic transcripts, and the occasional commercial contract tied to South African mining, wine, and agriculture exports.
